Important Information About Phe Phe Falls

Prior to visiting Phe Phe Falls, it is always good to know the simple and significant facts so that you can have plans to carry out successfully. This is also one of the most scenic and cleanest waterfalls in Meghalaya, and is particularly popular due to its beautiful turquoise pool. The waterfalls of Phe Phe are also reputed to be calm and serene and thus ideal for nature lovers, photographers and individuals interested in easy hikes. Some of the essential facts about these falls include:

  • Phe Phe Falls Location: It is located near the Moopun Falls, West Jaintia Hills.

  • Phe Phe Falls Timings: Best time is from 8:00 AM -4:00 PM

  • Phe Phe Falls height: 20-25 metres.

  • Phe Phe Falls trek time: 20-30 minutes.

  • Entry Fee: Generally nothing or a small village charge (₹20 -50).

  • Trek distance: 20-30 minutes

  • Best Local Attraction: Krang Suri (20-25 minutes of distance from Phe Phe Falls to Krang Suri)

  • Phe Phe Falls to Shillong Distance: Approximately 70 km.

Best Time To Visit Phe Phe Falls Meghalaya

Ideally, the best time to visit Meghalaya to see Phe Phe Falls is during the months of October to May, when it is pleasant, the skies are clear, and the waterfall appears calm, bright, and beautiful. It is the period of enjoying the real blue colour of the water that makes the entire area look magical, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 23°C. During these months, the trekking trail is also safer and easier to walk on since it is always dry and not as slippery.

To see the water-fall at its full blast, you should go immediately after the monsoon, about September to October, when the water is in full blast and full swing, with temperatures varying between 15°C and 20°C. However, the walk can be somewhat difficult because of muddy roads. During the monsoon season (June to August), the water flow is very powerful, the rocks are slippery, and the journey is not safe. The temperature remains between 17°C and 21°C. Therefore, to have a safe, quiet, and beautiful Phe Phe Falls experience, plan your trip during the colder and clearer seasons.

  • Best Months: October-April.

  • Avoid: Heavy monsoon season

  • Most suitable to go on a trek and take pictures: December-February.
