The Shri Amarnathji shrine Board (SASB) has officially announced that the Amarnath Yatra 2025 will start on July 03 and finish on August 9, spanning a total of 39 days. This annual pilgrimage attracts lots of Mahadev devotees to the Amarnath falls in Jammu and Kashmir, where a Shiva Lingam (शिवलिंग) is formed naturally by ice once in a year.
The Amarnath Yatra is a significant Hindu pilgrimage that leads devotees to the Amarnath Cave, situated at an altitude of 3,888 metres within the Himalayas. Inside the cave resides a naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam, symbolising Lord Shiva. According to the legend, this is the site in which Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality to Goddess Parvati.
Devotees aged between 13 and 75 years are eligible to join the Yatra. Pregnant women past six months are cautioned against taking part due to the strenuous nature of the journey.
The Amarnath Yatra holds immense spiritual importance for Hindus. The ice Shiva Lingam is thought to wax and wane with the lunar cycle, reaching its peak at some point of the Yatra period. Pilgrims undertake this hard adventure to look for blessings and achieve spiritual merit.
