    Summer in Spiti

    Summer in Spiti is the safest and most popular time to visit Spiti Valley by bike. The weather conditions are not as extreme as the winters and most roads and mountain passes are accessible, paving the way for a smoother, uninterrupted ride.

    In late May to June

    How to Reach Spiti by bike?

    If you are on a Delhi to Spiti Valley bike trip, one of the most common routes taken by CaptureATrip Spiti Bikers is the Manali to Spiti Valley route, especially in the summer months as Manali is a better-connected town in Himachal Pradesh. The ride from Delhi to Manali will be approximately 550kms. Once, you’re in Manali, you can make your way through the famous Rohtang Pass (open from late May to early October), and then through Gramphu and Kunzum Pass to reach Spiti Valley on bike.

    Another popular route preferred by CaptureATrip Bikers is via Shimla, Himachal Pradesh’s capital, which takes you to Spiti via Kinnaur. The ride from Delhi to Shimla should be approximately 350 km and is generally more accessible than Manali. This ride takes you through the NH-22 (Hindustan-Tibet Highway).

    Yes, we can self-drive in Spiti. It is important to plan well in terms of choice of vehicle, Season of visit, weather conditions, road accessibility, permits, food and accommodation, Emergency supplies, etc.

    Itinerary

    DAY 0: DEPART FROM DELHI BY 06:30 PM

    • We depart from Delhi around 6:30 PM in an AC Vehicle. (Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it.)

    • Pit stop for dinner at any decent roadside restaurant.

    Note: The pickup point will be Majnu Ka Tila (Near Vidhan Sabha Metro Station)

    DAY 1: TRANSFER TO HOMESTAY | JIBHI SIGHTSEEING | OVERNIGHT STAY AT JIBHI

    • Reach Aut by morning, Local transfer from Aut to our Homestay/Campsite.

    • We will get reach Tirthan (Bagpackers) / Bikers will head towards Manali to collect their bikes and will have a test ride from Manali to Tirthan.

    • Arrive at the Homestay/Campsite in the morning & Have Breakfast. (Bikers will do in Manali).

    • Check-in and freshen up. Some time is offered for relaxing and acclimatization.

    • Thereafter, you will be taken to the Jibhi Waterfall.

    • Later, come back to the Homestay/Campsite.

    • Dinner and night stays are offered at the Homestay/Campsite.

    DAY 2: START YOUR JOURNEY FROM TIRTHAN TO CHITKUL VIA KINNAUR VALLEY | OVERNIGHT STAY IN CHITKUL

    • Wake up, have breakfast and check out the homestay.

    • Later start your journey to Chitkul, the last Indian village towards China border.

    • You will experience the most serene views of Kinnaur valley along the banks of Satluj river.

    • Reach Chitkul by evening, Check in Camps / Hotel.

    • Dinner and Overnight stay.

    DAY 3: EXPLORE CHITKUL | TRANSFER TO KALPA | OVERNIGHT STAY IN KALPA

    • Wake up, have breakfast and check out the Check in Camps / Hotel.

    • Explore some local market in Chitkul, later depart for Kalpa.

    • Reach Kalpa by evening, Check in Hotel.

    • Dinner and Overnight stay.

    DAY 4: START YOUR JOURNEY FROM KALPA TO KAZA VIA NAKO - TABO - KA LOOPS | OVERNIGHT STAY IN KAZA

    • Wake up early morning, have breakfast and head towards Spiti Valley

    • Enter Spiti Valley through Sumdo Border.

    • Visit Nako and Tabo en route Kaza, Cross the Ka Loops en route Kaza.

    • Reach Kaza by evening, Check in Hotel.

    • Dinner and Overnight stay.

    DAY 5: KAZA - KEY MONASTERY – KOMIC – LANGZA - HIKKIM  | OVERNIGHT STAY IN KAZA

    • Wake up early morning and have breakfast.

    • Later head out for the sightseeing of Spiti Valley.

    • Visit Key Monastery – th world famous center for Buddhist learning located at the top of mountains.

    • Then we will visit Komic, world’s highest village connected by motorable roads.

    • Later we will ride to Hikkim and collect or send postcards from the world’s highest post office.

    • Later enjoy the serene sunset at Langza with a breathtaking landscape of a massive Buddha statue.

    • Come back to Kaza.

    • Have Dinner and overnight stay.

    DAY 6: START YOUR JOURNEY FROM KAZA TO CHANDRA TAAL LAKE | OVERNIGHT STAY IN NEAR CHANDRA TAAL

    • Wake up, have breakfast and check out.

    • Later depart for Chandrataal Lake.

    • On the way we will visit the highest bridge in Asia at Chicham village and a pit stop for Lunch at Losar, the last village of Spiti Valley.

    • Sightseeing stoppage at Kibber and Kunzum Pass.

    • Reach Chandra Taal by evening and check in camps.

    • Have dinner, Overnight stay under the gaze of Billion stars and the Milky way Galaxy.

    Note: Stay in Chandra Taal depends on weather conditions.

    DAY 7: DEPART FOR MANALI | OVERNIGHT STAY IN MANALI

    • Wake up with the happiness to take on such a journey.

    • Post breakfast check-out from the hotel and Pass through the iconic route of Atal Tunnel and some of the most scenic villages of Lahaul Valley.

    • Reach Manali, Check in to the hotel.

    • Dinner & Sleep Overnight.

    DAY 8 : CHECK OUT FROM MANALI | DEPARTURE FROM MANALI TO DELHI

    • Wake up lazy and post breakfast you can head out for local sightseeing of Manali.

    • Later head-out for self-exploration of Manali - Like Vasishta Temple, Hadimba temple, The Mall road, Jogini Waterfall.

    • Depart for Delhi by evening.

Hence, the stopover to these locations is weather-dependent. In such a case, we will look for the best possible alternatives, as achievable. 

    • Travellers residing outside Delhi are recommended to book trains/flights reaching Delhi not delay than 4 PM on the trip start date. Similarly, on the trip end date, book the returning flight/ train departure post 2 PM respectively. 

    • Numerous factors such as weather, road conditions, the physical ability of participants etc. may cause itinerary change. We reserve the right to change any schedule in the interest of safety, comfort and general wellbeing.
