Kedarnath Mandir (Kedarnath Temple) is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini River in Uttarakhand, India. Due to the region's harsh weather conditions, the temple is open to devotees only between April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima, the autumn full moon). During the winter months, the deity is moved to Ukhimath, where it is worshipped for the next six months. Kedarnath is considered a symbolic representation of Lord Shiva, the "Lord of Kedarkhand," the ancient name of the region.
